Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha held a high-level meeting with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday, emphasizing the need for relentless action against those behind the Pahalgam terror attack. In a strong message, LG Sinha stated that every perpetrator and supporter of the attack must be hunted down, regardless of their location or affiliation.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor urged the Army Chief to not only bring the attackers to justice but also to intensify operations against the infrastructure and ecosystem of terrorism. He highlighted the importance of sustained, coordinated efforts to dismantle the entire support network behind the attack.
“The nation has full faith in the bravery and valour of our Army, police, and CAPFs. They must work in close synergy to identify the perpetrators, enablers, and overground workers (OGWs) of the Pahalgam attack and neutralise them,” Sinha said.
The review meeting also included GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, and GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, alongside other top security officials. The discussion focused on reviewing the existing security mechanisms, and devising both short-term and long-term strategies to counter cross-border terrorism and prevent future attacks.
General Dwivedi, who arrived in Srinagar earlier in the day, was briefed by the 15 Corps Commander on the prevailing situation in the Union Territory. He also assessed the Indian Army’s response to recent ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) and the ongoing counter-terror operations within Kashmir.
The Indian Army remains on high alert, launching a series of search and destroy missions to track down the terrorists responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.
The strong statements from the Lieutenant Governor underscore the Centre’s uncompromising stance on terrorism, amid heightened public outrage and a series of diplomatic escalations with Pakistan.
